Wildlife Walk at Hinesburg Town Forest

Join Wildlife Biologists Noel Dodge and Andrea Shortsleeve and Chittenden County Forester Ethan Tapper on a wildlife walk at the Hinesburg Town Forest on Saturday, June 1st. Noel and Andrea, both biologists with the Vermont Department of Fish & Wildlife, will discuss wildlife habitat and natural history while identifying local wildlife species using the Town Forest. The Hinesburg Town Forest is a beloved public property with a history of nearly a century of active forest management, extensive recreational use, and important ecological function, all of which will be discussed on the walk. The property is also the site of an active timber harvest being supervised by Tapper, and we will discuss how this CoCoof the Town Forest.

Please meet at the end of Economou Road in Huntington at 8:00 AM, where we will park at the plow truck turnaround. The walk will go from 8:00 – 10:00 AM, and will take place rain or shine. Participants should be comfortable walking up to 3 miles, on- and off-trail, at a slow pace. The guided walk is free and participants are encouraged to bring snacks and water and to dress in footwear and clothing appropriate for the weather and season.
