Upcoming Deer Hearings

Vermont Fish & Wildlife will hold two more public hearings on deer.

A hearing on May 21 in Bethel will cover the proposed antlerless deer permit numbers for the 2019 hunting seasons as well as the proposed deer hunting regulation changes for 2020. A second hearing on June 4 in Hinesburg will cover the proposed deer hunting regulation changes for 2020.

The hearings are scheduled for 6:30 to 9:00 p.m. as follows:

Hunters, landowners and anyone else interested in Vermont’s deer should plan on attending one of the public hearings being held in March and April. The hearings will include results of Vermont’s 2018 deer seasons and prospects for hunting next fall as well as an opportunity for people to provide their observations and opinions regarding deer. 

Scott And Leahy Announce New Leahy-Authored Grant Opportunity For Communities Impacted By Decline In Forestry Industry

Governor Phil Scott (R) and U.S. Sen. Patrick Leahy (D) on Tuesday encouraged Vermont communities struggling to overcome the decline in the forestry industry to consider utilizing a new $7 million grant program to spur new economic opportunities.

The Vermont Urban & Community Forestry Program (VT UCF) is partnering with the Young Writers Project to raise awareness about emerald ash borer (EAB) and its impact on Vermont forests and communities.  Youth are encouraged to submit an original work of 750 words, either a persuasive essay or a piece of prose or poetry that aligns with the Invasives-Challenge prompts.
